This recipe was a popular menu item and well-kept secret at a former Iowa drive-in restaurant. When the restaurant closed after almost 30 years of business it was published in the Des Moines Register several years ago. Enjoy. Ingredients:
3 lbs ground beef |
4 tablespoons instant minced onion |
1 cup water |
1 1/2 cups ketchup |
4 tablespoons paprika |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef and drain. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes. Even better if made the day before and reheated. Serve on white hamburger buns with mustard and dill pickle slices if desired. |
