Nut snack/appetizer. I have not tried this. It was submited at the request of a poster to our message boards. Ingredients:
3 cups water |
2 cups walnuts, lg. pieces |
1/4 cup sugar |
vegetable oil |
salt |
Directions:
1. Bring 3 cups water to a rolling boil in deep saucepan. 2. Add walnuts; boil 1 minute. 3. Rinse under hot water; drain. 4. Toss walnuts with sugar. 5. Heat 1/2 inch oil to 350 degrees in deep saucepan. 6. With slotted spoon, add half the walnuts to the oil. 7. Fry, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes or until golden. 8. Repeat with remaining nuts. 9. Sprinkle with salt. 10. Cool on foil-lined tray, separating pieces. 11. Store in airtight container. |
