My grandmother's recipe for refrigerator yeast rolls. Preparation time does not include rising time of 1 1/2 hours. Ingredients:
5 cups flour |
2 cups buttermilk |
1 (1/4 ounce) package dry yeast |
3 tablespoons sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
3 tablespoons shortening |
Directions:
1. Sift together into a bowl the flour,baking powder,baking soda,salt and sugar. 2. Work in shortening. 3. Dissolve yeast in warm buttermilk and work into dough. 4. Place dough into a large greased bowl and rub butter lightly over the top of dough. 5. Cover with a damp cloth and store in the refrigerator. 6. Shape out rolls and place on a greased baking sheet. 7. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. 8. Bake for 10 minutes in at 350 degrees. |
