A recipe by Patty Schnobrich from the From the Governor's Pantry cookbook, Lind House Association in New Ulm, Minnesota, July 1988. The book is dedicated to the many volunteers who had donated their time, talents and money to restore the John Lind home. Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar |
1 cup white sugar |
1 1/2 cups shortening |
3 eggs, well beaten |
4 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
1 cup chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients. 2. Roll into log and refrigerate for a couple of hours. 3. Slice and put on cookie sheet. 4. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned. |
