On a hot humid day, you've just finished steak on the deck, or a big batch of ribs by the pool, and something cool and awesomely elegant would be perfect....this is what you want. Be sure to make it ahead of time. Ingredients:
1 pint vanilla ice cream (french vanilla if possible) |
1 pint whipping cream |
1/2 tsp almond extract |
1 lb of fresh cherries, pitted or |
1 large can of red sour pitted cherries |
Directions:
1. Let the ice cream soften 2. Beat the whipping cream with the almond extract until it forms stiff peaks 3. Fold the whipped cream into the ice cream 4. Place this mixture in individual dishes 5. Spoon cherries on top, gently pushing some of the fruit slightly into the mixture. 6. Spoon a little of the cherry juice on also. 7. Place in the freezer and allow to firm up before serving. |
