Ians Sausage and Apple Pie |

think off pork pie, but using sausage meat and apple. great hot or cold. i made this at school 25 or so years ago and is a favourite of mine. Ingredients:
6 ounces plain flour |
1 1/2 ounces lard |
1 1/2 ounces butter |
1 pinch salt |
cold water, to mix |
2 lbs cumberland sausage |
2 cooking apples |
Directions:
1. make the shortcrust pastry, i use a mixer as easier than doing it by hand. 2. line a 2llb loaf tin with 3/4 of the prepared pastry and blind bake for 10 minutes. 3. skin the sausage and place in tin . 4. then peal and chop apple up and stew in a little water for 3 minutes. 5. put on top off sausage meat in loaf tin. 6. top the pie with the remaining pastry then glaze with beaten egg and cook in oven for 30 mins. 7. gas4. 350f 180c. |
