I have not tried this recipe yet but it sounds good! I found it on a package of Martha White Hush Puppy Mix. This bake would go perfectly with fried shrimp or fish. Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) package hush puppy mix with onion |
2 cups boiling water |
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
3 egg yolks |
1 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 2 quart glass baking dish. 2. In medium mixing bowl, combine hush puppy mix and water; stir until smooth. Add butter, egg yolks, buttermilk, sugar and baking soda; mix well. Fold in egg whites. 3. Pour into greased casserole. 4. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until golden brown and set. Serve warm. 5. Store loosely covered in refrigerator. |
