Ingredients:
1 cup cornmeal |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 egg |
3/4 cup milk |
1 dash red pepper |
to taste chives (optional) |
1 tablespoon onion, grated |
Directions:
1. Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. 2. In a separate bowl beat egg and milk together. 3. Add to dry ingredients and stir. 4. Stir in onion, red pepper and chives, if using. 5. Drop by spoonfuls into hot fat in a deep fryer, 375 degrees, and fry until golden brown. |
