I love hush puppies and I like them spicy. These are light and spicy. You can omit the hotness if you want, but if you like it spicy, you'll love these. Ingredients:
3/4 cup flour |
1 1/2 cups white cornmeal |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
1 tablespoon finely chopped jalapeno |
1 egg |
3/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup finely chopped onion |
1/2 cup oil (for frying, more if needed) |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients together. 2. Drop by heaping teaspoons in hot oil; drain on paper towel. |
