This is great with fried fish, or any seafood dishes,also great with any down home Bayou Country Cajun meal. Ingredients:
2 c. self-rising corn meal |
3/4 c. milk |
1/2 cup green onions cut up tiny |
1/2 cup parsely cut up tiny not stems |
6 slices of japaleno peppers or hot seasoning of your choice |
1 small onion, finely chopped |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
dash of garlic powder |
vegetable oil or shortening |
Directions:
1. Combine corn meal and onion ,parsely, seasoning / japaleno peppers (remember peppers are optional ) and garlic powder. 2. Add milk and egg stirring well. 3. Carefully drop by tablespoon into deep hot 370 degrees oil. Cook only a few at a time, turning once. Fry until hush puppies are golden brown (3 to 5 minutes). 4. Drain well on absorbent towels. 5. Great with fried fish and white beans and rice. 6. Serve when they are still warm |
