Hunt's Ranchero Steak and Beans |

Great man-pleasing comfort food, and an easy one-pan dish! Serve with my Spanish Rice, or a tossed salad and cornbread. Adapted from Hunt's. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs boneless round steak or 1 1/2 lbs chuck steaks, well trimmed |
1/4 cup flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
2 tablespoons oil |
1 onion, sliced |
1/2 green bell pepper, diced |
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained (optional) |
3 (15 1/2 ounce) cans hunt's chili beans |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
Directions:
1. Cut meat into serving pieces; trim fat. 2. Combine flour, salt and pepper, and pound into meat. 3. Brown meat in oil in large skillet. 4. Add onion and green pepper,and cook until soft. 5. Add beans, tomato sauce and mushrooms. 6. Cover; simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. 7. Makes 6 servings. 8. Serve with rice, or a tossed salad and cornbread. |
