This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Rodgers Estate in Greenville, Texas in 1994. Ingredients:
2 packages of green beans |
2 tablespoons lard or butter |
2 tablespoons flour |
1/2 cup sliced onion |
1/4 cup good vinegar |
2 teaspoons sugar |
Directions:
1. Cook beans in salted water until tender but not soft. 2. Melt lard or butter then add onions and sauté until limp then add chopped dill. 3. Add flour making a roux. 4. Add 1 cup of water, sugar and vinegar then stir while sauce gets thick. 5. Add drained beans and mix well. 6. If too thick add additional water. |
