I realize not everyone is subject to the availability of these berries... but if you are... this is a wonderful pie... I have bushes growing in my backyard...almost ready to pick.. Ingredients:
3 cups fresh or frozen huckleberries |
1/2 teaspoon almond extract |
1 cup grated apple |
1 cup sugar |
2 tablespoons flour |
dash of salt |
2 uncooked pie crusts |
Directions:
1. Place ingredients in a bowl and mix well. 2. Pour into a unbaked pie shell. 3. Lattice top or totally cover top of pie with other crust. 4. Bake for 60 minutes or until nicely brown at 375 degrees. 5. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. |
