I would not be surprised if this were Great Great Grandma Russell's recipe. It's been in my family forever. It's the one mom, Aunt Dawn, Aunt Eth and Aunt Laura ( The Girls ) used, and it's the one Grandma gave me when I asked for a pie crust recipe. Ingredients:
1/2 c lard (i use shortening it makes it flakier, besides, the girls started using shortening when they baked for their own familes) |
1/4 c boiling water |
1 1/2 c flour |
1 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
Directions:
1. Have lard (shortening) at room temperature, put in bowl and add boiling water. 2. Stir with a fork until creamy. 3. Add flour, sifted with salt and baking powder 4. chill 5. Makes one two crust pie |
