This has been passed down through generations in my family and I love it! Ingredients:
2 cups white cornmeal |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/3 cup shortening |
1 cup boiling water |
2/3 cup whole milk |
Directions:
1. Mix thoroughly, cook in hot cast iron skillet, with small amount of grease, on top of stove for 3 minutes. Finish cooking in hot oven (500 degrees) for 13 minutes, then brown under broiler. |
