The combined flavors in this dish makes an interesting and tasty side dish. I have had this one many years and it is always a hit. Ingredients:
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans french style green beans |
5 tablespoons vinegar |
5 tablespoons sugar |
1/2 cup green olives (sliced) |
1 small onion (chopped) |
5 slices bacon (fried and save the drippings) |
3 tablespoons bacon drippings, cooled |
1/2 cup almonds (slivered or sliced, sliced water chestnuts can be substituted) |
Directions:
1. I drain the beans leaving a small amount of liquid. 2. Fry bacon and save the drippings. 3. Crumble bacon and mix all ingredients. 4. Marinate overnight in an ovenproof dish. 5. Preheat oven to 300°F and bake covered for 30 minutes. 6. Uncover and continue baking another 15-20 minutes. |
