                    this is a terrific dessert..we like to serve it with homemade ice cream..so decadent!! Ingredients: 
                    
                        
                                                1 1/2 cups sifted flour  |  
                                                3 teaspoons baking powder  |  
                                                1/4 teaspoon salt  |  
                                                1 1/8 cups sugar  |  
                                                3 tablespoons cocoa powder  |  
                                                3/4 cup milk  |  
                                                3 tablespoons melted butter  |  
                                                1 cup chopped walnuts  |  
                                                1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed  |  
                                                3 tablespoons cocoa powder  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. to prepare BASE:. 2. sift dry ingredients together 3. stir in milk and shortening; mix till smooth - add nuts, if desired. 4. spread in a 13x9  baking pan and sprinkle with the topping. 5. to prepare TOPPING:. 6. mix brown sugar and cocoa powder thoroughly - 7. after sprinkling over base - cover entire batter with 2 5/8 cups boiling water. 8. bake at 350* for 40 minutes.                              |
