I tried many different hot dog onion recipes. I mixed and matched them til I got the perfect combination. This is what I came up with. Ingredients:
2 tbls. corn oil |
1 large onion - minced |
2 tbls. tomato paste |
salt - to taste |
pepper- pinch |
1/2 cup water |
1 tsp. chili powder |
1 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce (frank's) |
cayenne pepper - pinch |
1 tsp. sugar |
1 tsp. yellow mustard |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a med. size skillet on med/high heat. 2. Add onions and cook til onions are very limp and all fluid is evaporated. 3. Add all the seasonings and simmer uncovered for a few minutes. 4. Add tomato paste and water. 5. Simmer uncovered again til it reduces in half. 6. Serve ontop of hot dogs. |
