This is one of my favorites of my Aunt's recipes Ingredients:
white sauce |
1/2 cup butter |
2/3 cup flour |
2 2/3 cups milk |
salt to taste |
crab mixture |
3+ cups crab meat |
2 cups finely chopped celery |
1/4 cup(half of one) green pepper chopped |
3/4 cup blanched, slivered almonds |
4 hard cooked eggs, chopped or sliced |
2 tablespoons pimento (option) |
buttered bread crumbs |
Directions:
1. Make a white sauce. 2. Cook the white sauce for 5 minutes then add 3 or more cups crab meat. 3. Add to the crab meat mixture the celery, green pepper, blanch almonds, chopped eggs,and pimento. 4. Pour all into greased casserole or baking dish and cover with buttered crumbs. 5. Heat at 350 for 35 minutes. 6. Serve hot on lettuce leaf. |
