This recipe is from Mrs. Elmer Katt, from the cookbook Heritage of Cooking A Collection of Recipes from East Perry County, Missouri. Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 cup honey |
1 3/4 cups pitted chopped dates |
1/2 cup halved candied cherry |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3 eggs (beaten) |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 cup chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Beat eggs, add honey and vanilla. 2. Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together. 3. Add dates, nuts, and cherries. 4. Mix well. 5. Bake in greased 13 x 9 pan 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until browned. 6. Cut into bars when cool and roll in powdered sugar. |
