This is a super easy recipe that looks difficult! It was so easy that my 31-year-old son made it this past week when he had some time off & wanted to play in the kitchen and everyone in the family was impressed! Read more ! Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 tablespoon salt |
1/3 cup shortening |
2/3 cup milk |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup honey (any kind) |
Directions:
1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together into a mixing bowl. 2. Cut in shortening with a fork until mixture resembles cornmeal. 3. Add milk gradually, blending until well combined. 4. Place dough onto floured surface and pat into a 1/2 inch thick rectangle. 5. Cream butter with honey and spread a portion of this mixture onto dough. 6. Roll up as for jelly roll, then cut into 1 inch thick slices. 7. Arrange on baking sheet with 1/2 inch space between each biscuit. 8. Spread remaining honey-butter mixture on top of each biscuit. 9. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. 10. NOTE: For variation, cinnamon may be added to honey-butter mixture or chopped raisins, nuts or candied fruits may be sprinkled over biscuit dough before rolling. |
