From pepper.ph. Originally called Honey Bagoong Chicken Wings: Because Bon Chon and Barrio Fiesta won’t make Love , you can see why this caught my eye. From there, it was all about the food. You can get the shrimp sauce in an international grocer. It doesn't look like fish sauce- it should be saucy looking and a little bit pinkish colored. Don't be afraid of the smell, but yes, like fish sauce, it can offend, but NOT in the final dish. Ingredients:
8 chicken wings |
1/4 cup bagoong, alamang or 1/4 cup shrimp sauce |
3 tablespoons honey |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
cooking oil |
1/4 cup honey |
2 teaspoons bagoong, alamang or 2 teaspoons shrimp sauce |
1 tablespoon water |
Directions:
1. Marinate wings in a mixture of shrimp sauce and honey, at least 30 minutes, but longer is preferred. 2. To make the glaze, cook honey, shrimp sauce and water until syrupy. 3. Coat the wings in flour and shake off excess; fry 8-10 minutes in hot oil, then drain on paper toweling. 4. Drizzle with syrup. |
