I found this on the back of a Shawnee Best yellow corn meal bag. Ingredients:
2 cups shawnee best yellow corn meal |
4 tablespoons baking powder |
1.5 teaspoon salt |
1.5 cups milk |
2 eggs (unbeaten) |
2 tablespoons melted shortening or oil |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees 2. Combine dry ingredients 3. Add milk, egg and melted shortening or oil and mix well. 4. Pour into well-greased 8 inch square pan 5. Bake at 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes 6. Yeild: 16 (2 inch) cornbread squares. |
