recipe from Hillbilly Houswife site at. The amount of waffles made varies according to the size of the waffle iron. I get 12 single waffles by using my White-Westinghouse waffle iron and putting 1/4 cup of batter in each space. Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups milk, skim |
6 tbsp margarine, melted |
2 eggs, medium |
1/4 tsp salt |
1 tbsp baking powder |
1 3/4 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Get out a large bowl. 2. Pour the milk, margarine and eggs into the bowl. If you are melting the margarine in the microwave, you can melt it in the bowl first, and then add the milk and eggs. 3. Mix these up really well with a whisk or a fork, or electric beaters. 4. Add the salt, baking powder and flour. Beat the batter with a whisk or electric beaters until it is smooth. Preheat your waffle iron according to the instructions. Oil it with a pastry brush if necessary. 5. Use a measuring cup to measure 1/2-cup of batter into each waffle section. THIS DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF YOUR WAFFLE IRON. CHECK THE MANUAL TO SEE HOW MUCH TO PUT IN UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW. 6. Close the waffle iron and allow the waffles to bake for about 2 minutes, or according to the instructions in the manual. 7. When the waffles are well cooked, they should be pretty easy to loosen up with a fork or a chopstick. Gently lay the waffles on a plate and continue cooking until you use up all of the batter. 8. Be careful not to overfill the waffle iron because the extra batter will just spill off and make a big mess. 9. Serve with syrup and fresh fruit. |
