Homemade Vanilla Custard Ice Cream |

We love to make homemade ice cream in the summer, can also add any kind of fruit to it ...So good!!! Ingredients:
2 cups milk |
1 vanilla bean, spilt |
8 egg yolks |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1/4 cup vanilla extract ( 2oz) |
2 cups whipping cream |
Directions:
1. Cook milk in a heavy saucepan over med. heat, stirring often, just til bubbles appear; remove from heat and add vanilla bean; cover and let stand for 20 minutes. Take out vanilla bean. 2. Whisk together yolks and next 3 ingredients in a large bowl until thick . Gradually whisk milk mixture into yolk mixture; return to saucepan. 3. Cook over very low heat, stirring constantly; 5 minutes or until mixture thickens and coats a spoon. Remove from heat and pour through strainer into a bowl. Cool, stirring occasionally. 4. Stir in cream; cover and chill 1 hour. 5. Pour mixture into freezer container of a 1 gallon electric freezer. Freeze according to freezer instructions. 6. Let stand 1 hour before serving. |
