This is a very quick and unique spaghetti sauce. Don't let the unusual list of ingredients scare you off; they blend to make a delicious sauce. This is the only sauce my kids and I will eat. My step-son makes this same recipe but uses mushrooms and substitutes garlic and onion for the powders. It is also a nice sauce to use for pizza casserole in OAMC.
Ingredients:
1 lb extra lean ground beef
23 ounces tomato sauce
12 ounces water
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons mustard
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons chili powder
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Directions:
1. In a skillet, brown hamburger; drain well.
2. Combine remaining ingredients, except the cornstarch and 1/4 cup water, and stir into skillet, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Thicken by slowly stirring in up to two 2 tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup of water. Simmer a few minutes more.
4. Serve over spaghetti.
