My kids (and myself) prefer this spaghetti sauce to anything store-bought. While the cooking process is long, the result is worth the wait! Your kitchen will smell wonderful for an entire morning or afternoon! I usually quadruple the recipe and freeze the excess. If you prefer meat sauce, you can brown 1 pound of ground beef and 1 large onion sliced thin, add 1 tsp. salt and sprinkle of parsley, then add to the sauce while cooking. Ingredients:
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce |
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste |
4 cups water |
1 quart tomato |
2 teaspoons garlic powder |
2 teaspoons basil |
2 teaspoons oregano |
1 teaspoon sugar |
2 teaspoons salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Put all ingredients in a large pot and don't cover while cooking. 2. Cook 3 1/2-4 hours. 3. Stir often. |
