For many Crohn's and Colitis suffers, processed meats are a big no-no. But who can give up sausage? Here's a homemade version without the preservatives and you can adjust the spices to your own taste. Use either ground pork or turkey; both are good. Ingredients:
1 pound ground pork or turkey |
1 tablespoon dried sage |
1/2 tsp chili powder |
1/2 tsp garlic powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp black pepper |
olive oil for cooking |
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients and mix well. 2. Cover and chill at least 2 hours. 3. Shape into patties. 4. Add small amount olive oil to skillet to cook sausage. 5. Cook patties over medium heat until browned, about 5-10 minutes. |
