Another recipe from the 1980 version of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church cookbook from Muir, Pennsylvania that was given to me by my Nana when I became an adult. This recipe was submitted by Pearl Evans. She didn't put a cooking time. So, I am guessing on that but it sounds like something you just have to watch until it is the thickness you wish it to be. Ingredients:
3 quarts tomato juice |
1 pint sugar |
1/2 pint vinegar |
4 teaspoons salt |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/4 teaspoon red pepper |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in large kettle or pot. 2. Cook until desired thickness. 3. Bottle and seal. |
