These are the tortillas I use all the time. I never by store bought. I love these. They are tastier and a bit thicker than the average tortilla. Very filling. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 cup shortening |
1/2 cup hot water |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening to resemble crumbs. Add the water slowly until you form a dough. Roll dough in 1 1/4 in balls. Cover and let rest 20 minutes. Roll each ball out on a floured surface and fry in a dry preheated pan about 30-45 seconds each side. Keep warm by placing in the folds of a clean dish towel. |
