Found this recipe and like that it had an intresting twist to an old recipe.... Ingredients:
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar |
3 tablespoons lemon juice |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon dried allspice |
3 apples, peeled, cored and grated |
1 tablespoon prepared white horseradish |
Directions:
1. Combine vinegar, lemon juice, sugar, and salt in a large non-reactive pan. 2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. 3. Add allspice and apples, lower heat to medium and cook fpr 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. 4. Remove from heat, add horseradish and allow sauce to cool to room temperature. 5. Sauce will thicken as it cools. 6. Make it ahead. You can prepare the apple sauce up to two days in advance. Cover it well and store it in the refridgerator. Remove it an hour before serving so it can reach room temperature. 7. Spice it up. If you don't like horseradish, try a different taste by adding a 2-inch piece pf peeled fresh ginger in step 1. Removethe ginger in step 3, cool the sauce to room temperature and seve. |
