From Pat and Gina Neely Ingredients:
4 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch slices |
4 golden delicious apples, peeled, cored, cut into 1/2-inch slices |
1 cup apple cider or 1 cup juice |
1 lemon, juiced |
1/4 cup light brown sugar |
2 cinnamon sticks |
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 dash nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Add apples, apple cider, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks and a dash of nutmeg to a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover with a lid and reduce to a simmer. Let cook for 15 minutes or until apples are tender. Remove cinnamon sticks and discard. 2. Mash with a potato masher, and stir in the 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon and dash of nutmeg. Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm. |
