Ingredients are easy to remember...only 4 plus flavoring. It is so sweet and good. Wonderful with strawberries, or frost with your favorite icing. Ingredients:
8 eggs |
1 pint heavy cream |
3 cups sugar |
3 cups self-rising flour |
2 teaspoons vanilla, or 1 teaspoon almond, or 1 teaspoon lemon |
*to make a layer cake, this cake may be halved and cooked in 2 cake pans |
cooking time will not be as long, only about 25 minutes |
Directions:
1. With an electric mixer, in large bowl, beat all 8 eggs for 5 minutes 2. Add heavy cream slowly, beating another 5 minutes 3. Add sugar, beat to mix 4. Add flour, mix on low until blended 5. Add your choice of flavoring 6. Pour into a greased and lightly floured tube pan 7. Bake at 300 for about 1 hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean 8. Remove from oven, let cool on wire rack for 10 minutes 9. Turn out onto cake plate 10. May frost with favorite icing, or serve with fresh strawberries and whipped cream |
