Savory warm baked ham perfect for any family gathering. The leftovers make for great eating after the holiday. Pat and I worked this up for Christmas 2008. My thanks to Chef Meow for the inspiration. We added some ingredients and prep but it started with her. Ingredients:
1/4 tsp ground cloves |
1 clove minced garlic |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
3/4 cup dry red wine |
1/2 cup pineapple juice |
1/3 cup crushed pineapple |
bone in, pre-cooked ham |
Directions:
1. Whisk all marinade ingredients together in a large bowl. 2. Score surface of the ham into diamond shapes about 1 inch square by 1/2 inch deep. Score both sides. 3. Place the ham in a glass baking dish and pour marinade over it. Let the ham stand at room temp for an hour, turning and basting it frequently. 4. Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees. 5. Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour marinade over it. Tent the ham with aluminum foil. 6. Bake for 15 minutes per pound. (cooking time was based on a 12 lb ham) Baste with marinade about every 20 minutes. Remove the foil during the last 45 minutes of cooking to brown. 7. Remove to a large platter, carve and serve warm. |
