These pinecone fire starters make wonderful hostess gifts for the holiday season. The recipe was found on . To make this craft you will also need the following: decorative bucket, basket or crock; twigs and evergreen sprigs; sheet moss; carving knife; kitchen tongs; saucepan; old metal bowl or pot; glue gun; waxed paper; newspaper
Ingredients:
pinecones
beeswax or paraffin wax, cut into cubes
paraffin wax, dye (optional)
floral foam
Directions:
1. Cover your work surface with several layers of newspaper and top with a layer of waxed paper.
2. In a bowl which has been placed over a saucepan of hot water, melt the wax.
3. Stir in dye if using.
4. With tongs, dip each pinecone into the wax and allow the excess to drip back into the bowl.
5. Transfer the wax-coated pinecone to the waxed paper and allow to dry.
6. Repeat this process 3 or 4 times.
7. With a knife, cut the foam to fit the bottom two-thirds of the bucket and glue into place.
8. Glue the sheet moss over the foam.
9. Fill the bucket with pinecones.
10. Push twigs and branches into the foam.
