This is a old recipe that was passed to me by my mother. Ingredients:
2 cups golden white raisins |
2 tablespoons butter |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
2 cups boiling water |
2 eggs, well beaten |
2 1/2 cups brown sugar |
4 cups flour |
1 cup chopped nuts |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. FOR PART ONE: Mix PART ONE ingredients in large mixing bowl and refrigerate overnight. 2. FOR PART TWO:. 3. Add remaining PART TWO ingredients to PART ONE. 4. Grease and flour 4 coffee cans. 5. Divide dough into the 4 cans. 6. Bake approximately 1 hr 10mins at 350 degrees. 7. Remove bread from cans immediately when done. |
