When I take this chili to work for a potluck, it's half gone before lunch time. Low fat and South Beach Diet legal. Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground turkey |
1 pound lean turkey italian sausage (hot or mild), casings removed |
1 medium onion, chopped |
3 garlic cloves, minced |
1 can fat free chicken, turkey or vegetable broth |
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste |
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce |
3 tblsp. chili powder |
2 tblsp. brown sugar or molasses |
2 tblsp. worcestershire sauce |
2 tsp. cumin |
2 tsp. cayenne pepper |
2 cans (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with liquid |
1 can each black and pinto beans drained and rinsed. (or use two cans of whatever beans you want) |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey, turkey sausage, onion and garlic, in olive oil. Break up the ground turkey and sausage as it cooks. Drain fat completely. 2. In a 5 qt. slow cooker, mix all ingredients, and cook on medium for 4-6 hours. 3. Serve with low fat sour cream and low fat grated cheddar cheese. |
