So good and creamy! Rather than using the onion powder, you can slice a small onion and place over the top of the potatoes before baking. My family would choke if they saw an onion, so I sneak in the onion powder for a little bit of flavor. Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine |
2 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 dash pepper |
3 cups milk |
6 cups potatoes, thinly sliced |
1 teaspoon onion powder (optional) |
Directions:
1. Peel potatoes and thinly slice. 2. Melt butter; add flour, salt and pepper; blend. 3. Gradually add milk. 4. Cook until smooth and thick, stirring constantly. 5. Add potatoes and onion powder, cover. 6. Simmer for 7 minutes. 7. Pour into greased 8X12 inch glass baking dish. 8. Bake uncovered in 350F oven until tender, about 1 hour. |
