How about a steak tonight? Quick & Easy Comfort Cooking. Ingredients:
1/2 tbs. cracked black pepper |
1 1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed |
1 1/2 tsp. oregano, crushed |
1 tsp. garlic powder |
2 boneless beef top loin (strip) steaks, cut 3/4-inch thick (about 8 oz. each) |
1 tbs. olive oil |
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar |
1/4 cup beef broth |
1 tbs. butter or whipping cream |
1/4 cup snipped fresh parsley |
Directions:
1. For rub, in a small bowl stir together pepper, basil, oregano, and garlic powder. 2. Use your fingers to apply the rub mixture to both aides of steaks. 3. In a heavy large skillet cook steaks in hot oil over medium heat to desired doneness, turning once. (Allow 8 to 11 minutes for medium-rare and 12 to 14 minutes to medium doneness.) 4. Remove steaks from skillet, reserving drippings in the skillet. 5. Keep Steaks warm. 6. For sauce, carefully add balsamic vinegar and beef broth to drippings in skillet, scraping up brown bits. Bring to boiling. Boil gently, uncovered, 4 minutes or until sauce is reduced by half. 7. Remove from heat; stir in butter. 8. To serve, slice steaks. Divide sauce among four plates. 9. Top sauce with steak slices and sprinkle with parsley. |
