Crack open a package of the slightly sweet-herb scented nut mix when your family becomes engrossed in the magical dream of Marie in the Nutcracker writtend by E.T.A. Hoffman. Ingredients:
1 cup salted cashews |
1/2 cup pecan halves |
1/2 cup whole almonds |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary |
1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. Spread cashews, pecans and almonds into an ungreased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake 8-10 minutes or until toasted, stirring occasionally. 2. In a large saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; stir in rosemary and thyme. Add nuts and toss to coat. 3. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Yield: 2 cups. |
