This sweet-savory compote goes especially well with the Honey-Marsala Glazed Ham. Ingredients:
1 teaspoon olive oil |
1 1/2 cups chopped onion |
2 cups water |
1/2 cup chopped dried pears |
1/2 cup chopped dried apricots |
1/2 cup dried tart cherries |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/4 cup sweet marsala |
2 tablespoons honey |
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme |
1/4 teaspoon dried rubbed sage |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion; cover and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer until thick (about 20 minutes). Pour into a bowl; cool. 2. Note: Apple juice may be substituted for Marsala, if desired. |
