This is a side dish that we serve at every holiday Ingredients:
6 cups thinly sliced onion |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flour |
1 tall can evaporated milk |
1/3 cup water |
1 tsp. dried parsely |
1/2 tsp. salt |
dash pepper |
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese |
paprika |
Directions:
1. Pre-boil oninons in small amount of boiling water 2-3 min 2. drain and put into 2 qt. casserole dish 3. melt butter and blend in flour, gradually stir in milk, then water, cook stirring until thickened. 4. add remaining ingredients (except paprika) and stir until cheese is melted 5. pour over onions 6. Bake at 325 for 1 hours 7. sprinkle with paprika and serve |
