Taken from Reader’s Digest “Secrets of Better Cooking”…. I came across this list and decided to share it here, knowing some measurements may be difficult to convert. This list should help :+D
Ingredients:
equivalencies
a few grains = less than 1/16th of a tsp
a pinch = less than 1/8th of a tsp
1/2 tbsp = 1 1/2 tsp
1 tbsp = 3 tsp or 1/2 oz
1/8th cup = 2 tbsp or 1 oz
1/4 cup = 4 tbsp or 2 oz
1/3rd cup = 5 tbsp plus 1 tsp
1/2 cup = 8 tbsp or 4 oz
2/3 cup = 10 tbsp plus 2 tsp
3/4 cup = 12 tbsp or 6 oz
1 cup = 16 tbsp or 8 oz
2 cups (8 oz) = 1 u.s. pint
2 pints = 1 qt fluid measurement or 4 cups
4 qt = 1 gallon
8 qt (dry) = 1 peck
4 pecks = 1 bushel
Directions:
1. Note:
2. Whenever grams are needed for a European recipe, you can easily convert them into ounces by dividing by 31. For example, 500 grams divided by 31 = 16 oz approximately.
3. My added note:
4. There is also a converter available online:
