This is a very good Swiss Torta, the recipe was given to me years ago by a neighbor. She always brought us some when she made it. Ingredients:
1 quart milk |
4 eggs, beaten |
1 loaf french bread or 1 loaf white bread |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon clove |
1/2 cup pine nuts or 1/2 cup walnuts |
1/2-1 cup sherry wine |
3/4 cup raisins |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven 325 degrees. 2. Cut up bread into cubes. 3. Soak bread in milk. 4. Add all ingredients, to bread and milk, mix well. 5. Butter glass pan (9 x 14). 6. Pour into pan. 7. Bake about 1 hour- Puffs up when done. |
