Helene D'esterhazy's Baked Vidalia Onions

This is a recipe given to me by my mom, Helene d'Esterhazy. She included it in a Cookbook she created for me.
Ingredients:
4 medium vidalia onions
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Slice off the bottom and top of the onion, but do not peel.
3. Place in an oiled baking pan and brush them with oil.
4. Sprinkle with salt.
5. Cover with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes.
6. Remove the paper and sprinkle each onion with balsamic vinegar.
7. Return to the oven for another 30 minutes.
8. Remove the outer peel of the onion and serve hot.
