                    My kids love this soup, friends who think they don't like lentil soup, love this soup. Hearty, and delicious on a crisp fall day, warms you to the soul on a cold snowy winter night. I like to serve this with our favorite cornbread. Ingredients: 
                    
                        
                                                2 cups lentils  |  
                                                2 cups ham, diced small  |  
                                                1 medium onion, chopped  |  
                                                1 bay leaf  |  
                                                1 teaspoon salt  |  
                                                1/2 teaspoon pepper  |  
                                                1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes  |  
                                                1/2 teaspoon oregano  |  
                                                1 cup carrot, diced  |  
                                                8 -10 cups water  |  
                                                
                     
                    Directions: 
                    
                        
                            
                                1. Mix all ingredients in large stock pot. 2. Simmer 2-3 hours. 3. Remove bay leaf. 4. Serve.                              |
