Want to indulge yourself, but abhor store-bought cookies that are often too high in fat or sugar? Try these wheat-flour based concoctions that can satisfy your cravings while being relatively nutritious. Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour |
3/4 cup all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce |
1/4 cup canola oil |
1 cup splenda granular |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 cup raisins |
Directions:
1. In main bowl, combine flours, baking soda, and salt. 2. In a separate bowl, use an electric mixer to combine the wet ingredients: applesauce, canola oil, splenda, egg, and vanilla extract. 3. Pour the wet mixture into the flour bowl and mix using a spatula. 4. Add raisins or chocolate chips depending on taste, and kneed by hand. 5. Round into 1 tablespoon balls and flatten onto cookie sheet. 6. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. |
