A very different take of the traditional french fries. This is healthy, tasty and easy to make. Note: Mine was cooked til a bit soft. If you like more of a crunchy taste, skip the boiling water. Ingredients:
1-2 medium potatoes (any type) |
1/2 onion, sliced into strips |
1 tsp garlic minced |
1 tbsp soya sauce/tamari |
salt, to taste |
1 tsp rice wine/vinegar |
dash of chilli powder/flakes |
1 tsp 5-spice powder |
optional: carrots, julienned/strips |
Directions:
1. Peel potatoes and cut into julienned strips. 2. Soak in boiling water for 1-2 mins. 3. Drain, rinse with cold water and pat dry. 4. Heat oil in pan and add onions and garlic. Stir til slightly brown (about 1 min). 5. Add potato sticks, soya sauce, salt, wine vinegar and chilli powder. Stir to coat. 6. Sprinkle 5-spice powder and stir again for about another minute. 7. Remove from heat and serve into a plate. |
