This is a recipe I have created to be lower in sugar and higher in fiber. It is also the best in flavor I think. I use golden delicious apples. I sweeten with Splenda brown sugar blend. To use regular brown sugar, you will have to use more. I bake for 90 minutes because we like the oats crisp and the apples caramelized. Ingredients:
7 -8 large apples, sliced thin |
1/4 cup splenda brown sugar blend |
4 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats |
1 cup flour |
1/2 cup splenda brown sugar blend |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon baking powder |
14 tablespoons butter, melted |
Directions:
1. In large bowl mix apples with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and spice. Mix well. 2. Put into buttered large baking dish. 3. In large bowl mix topping ingredients well, including butter. 4. Sprinkle topping over apples in baking dish. 5. Bake at 350°F for 60 to 90 minutes depending how you like, soft or crispy. |
