A healthier version of sautéed cabbage for those who would rather not make it with bacon grease. I find the bacon version much too heavy, so I created this recipe which has almost no saturated fat (depending on what oil you use). Try making it with red and green cabbage for a beautiful and yummy dish. Ingredients:
4 cups cabbage, shredded |
1/2 yellow onion, chopped |
3 tablespoons oil |
salt |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large, heavy skillet. 2. Add onion to skillet and sauté over medium heat until almost translucent, but not quite. 3. Add cabbage and sauté to desired texture. 4. Add salt to taste. 5. You can experiment with various flavors such as adding garlic, cayenne, or using roasted hazelnut oil. |
